Mark Selby became the youngest snooker player to turn professional in 1999 when he was just 16, but shot to fame in 2007 when he reached the final of the World Championships. He was to lose to John Higgins that year, but this success proved to be the catalyst which boosted Mark's career.
Mark went on to win the 2008 Masters title, and further titles at the Masters in 2010 and 2013 as well as the UK Championships in 2012 established Mark as one of the best snooker players in the World.
Mark went on to complete the "Triple Crown" by winning the World Championships in 2014, and has gone on to re-cliam the world title in 2016, establishing himself as one of the greatest snooker players of all time.
Mark is known as the Jester from Leicester, and is very proud to have been born and raised in Leicester where he learnt his craft at a club owned by Willie Thorne's brother, Malcolm. Although well-known for his tough match-play style, Mark is also famed for his humour both on and off the table - making him very popular with fans and his fellow professionals.
Dennis Taylor has also dubbed Mark "Sat-nav Selby" due to his incredible ability to escape seemingly impossible snookers. Ronnie O'Sullivan has also named him 'The Torturer'.
Mark lives in Leicester with his wife, Vikki, and their daughter, Sofia.
